Today we decided it would be a lake day. Cliff and Wade lakes are just a short distance from the cabin so we decided to head on down and enjoy the blue waters of the lake, do some fishing and water craft maneuvering. Sadly, Frank had a couple of meetings so he couldn’t join us.Continue reading “‘Sup, Dawg?”

Absolutely No Horse Blankets
Today was chore day. As much as I hate to admit it, even when you are footloose and fancy free, you still end up having to do chores. Trash was first. Next up, laundry. The most challenging was to find a pan so Susanne could make flan. The closest place for all of that wasContinue reading “Absolutely No Horse Blankets”
Avalanche
Yesterday was a bit of wash of a day. The weather was improving and Laura really wanted to do the hike up to Avalanche lake. However, it rained hard all night and it was quite cold in the morning. The rest of us voted to wait a day for it warm up a bit. ThisContinue reading “Avalanche”
Mudfest
The weather has continued to be pretty iffy, but all of us were anxious to get out and do something. Laura wanted to go up to Avalanche lake on Sunday, so we decided we would try an easier hike of 5 miles or so on Saturday. This is Montana, mind you, so most hikes areContinue reading “Mudfest”
The Magic Touch
We woke up and the weather definitely looked much better. Laura was antsy to get out and go fishing. So after breakfast, Laura, Frank, and I headed down to Cliff lake to catch some fish. I wanted a fresh trout dinner, so we were going to keep three today. On the drive down, Laura madeContinue reading “The Magic Touch”
Dreary, Wet and Cold
Ok, I will confess that I spent the better part of the summer complaining about how hot it was. And I do not lie, it was hot. I was really looking forward to the cold front pushing through, cooling it down, and hopefully clearing up the smoke situation. I was ill-prepared for the drastic change.Continue reading “Dreary, Wet and Cold”
Bee Sting
Susanne had some work to do today and the thought of hanging outside in the smoke was not overappealling. So Laura, Frank, Hankie, Tukka, Sadie, and I all headed out to go fishing at a lake just west of Ennis. I guess Frank’s brother had caught a ton of fish there earlier in the summerContinue reading “Bee Sting”
Montana
We are happy that we made it to Montana. Yeah! The smoke is building and it is quite hot. Boooooo. I was angsting about what to do if the smoke kept getting worse as I didn’t want a repeat of last year which was just absolutely miserable. The smoke plume seems to be covering aboutContinue reading “Montana”
Houston, We Have A Problem
Houston, We Have A Problem: We got up in the morning and made our nice Nespressos. We could probably survive without the generator now that I have the solar panels and a second battery, but I sure love to have that latte in the morning, so we fire it up for a few minutes everyContinue reading “Houston, We Have A Problem”
Leaving Flagstaff
Leaving Flagstaff: Today, we are officially homeless. After a reasonably pleasant stay at the Airbnb in Flagstaff, we woke up early and hustled to pack up all the stuff in the truck and get over to the trailer before the rain started. One of the big problems, and truly this is a first world problem,Continue reading “Leaving Flagstaff”
