The Kepler Track

Track INFO:

LENGTH: 60 km (37.5 mi)
ELEVATION GAIN: 885 m (2832 ft)
DAYS: 3 to 5 Days

The Kepler Track is one of the Great Walks in New Zealand, and in my mind is a must-do. It can be challenging to find space in the huts, but there are often cancelations that you can pick up if you watch the DOC website.

I hiked the Kepler in January of 2025 and completed it over 4 days and 3 nights. The two most common ways to do the track are either the full loop (60 km) or a triangle with a shuttle from Rainbow Bridge back to Te Anau (45 km). The section from Rainbow Bridge to the dam at Lake Te Anau is forgettable.

Below is the blog from my hike.
